The direction of Electric field is defined as the direction of force on a positive charge. But why cannot the direction of Magnetic field be DEFINED as the direction of foce on a moving positive charge?

My thoughts, which may not be true here (I don’t remember much of magnetism), are that if a particle is moving rather than stationary, the force that is acting on it may cause it to change direction (depending on previous forces or other non magnetic forces acting on it), so it’s just harder to look at the situation that way. It’s easier to imagine a momentarily stationary charge and look at the force acting on that.

Please let me know if I’m way off in my thinking here.
